How is the Shore 0 special-scale digital durometer used?

The Shore 0 digital durometer must always be placed on a firm base of the material sample, which must have a minimum thickness of 6 mm. To perform a measurement with a Shore 0 durometer, constant pressure must be applied to the indenter so that it penetrates the material. The backlit display will then show the Shore hardness reading on a scale from 0 to 100.
The Shore 0 scale measures materials that are softer than Shore A and harder than Shore 00. Examples include soft printing rollers, medium-density textile bobbins made of rayon, nylon, Perlon, and other soft, low-rigidity elastic materials.

Both hardness scales are designed to measure very soft materials. Materials with Shore 0 hardness include soft elastomers and certain textile fabrics, whereas Shore 00 materials correspond to extremely soft and highly elastic samples such as foam rubber, sponge foam, gel-like surfaces, or certain types of silicone.
The fundamental difference is that the Shore 00 scale is intended to evaluate materials that are even softer and more spongy than those measured on the Shore 0 scale.
