Frequently asked questions about Shore A digital hardness testers
What does Shore C hardness mean?
The Shore scale is a standard system that determines material hardness by measuring resistance to indentation. While Shore A hardness is used for soft and flexible surfaces, Shore C hardness applies to medium-hardness plastics and elastomers. As with all Shore scales, Shore C hardness is expressed in values from 0 to 100, where 0 is the softest and 100 is the hardest within its category.

How do you use a Baxlo Shore C digital durometer?
Using a Baxlo Shore C digital durometer is very simple. Place the instrument on a flat area of the material to be tested and apply uniform pressure to the indenter so that it penetrates the surface. The durometer display will show the Shore hardness value on the C scale, ranging from 0 to 100 depending on the material.
Is it necessary to calibrate a Shore C digital durometer?
Yes, the Shore C digital durometer must be calibrated absolutely, not by reference. Regular or improper use may affect its accuracy, so periodic recalibration is recommended to ensure that the obtained values comply with the applicable standards (ISO 868 and DIN 53505 for Europe, ASTM D 2240 for the USA). Baxlo delivers all its durometers with a full calibration certificate, and Shore C durometer recalibration is carried out quickly and efficiently.
What is included with our Shore Class C digital durometers?
All Baxlo Shore Class C digital durometers come with an individual carrying case and a 60 Shore check block included.
Where are Shore C digital durometers manufactured?
All our durometers and measuring instruments are manufactured at our factory in Polinyà (Barcelona), where we comply with the strictest quality standards and current European regulations.
